Hey Will — yes, definitely should be in stores across the pond there. I’m pretty sure Duke U Press has good distro in civilized countries like your own ;) Looks, however, like the release date is about a month later via Amazon.
And Winslow, ‘libro’ means ‘reggaeton’ in Panama but ‘floorboard’ in Puerto Rico. Go figure.
Oh man, I can’t wait to get my hands on a copy. I wonder whether my managers will be smart enough to order some copies for our store, or whether I’m gonna have to heckle them to do so. Hmm.
Either way, congrats!! Babies and books – Wayne, you are the envy of the blogosphere.
Hey Wayne, congratulations on the book, looks great!
Didn’t know where to post and didn’t want to send you a formal mail, so here goes (sorry for hijacking):
Below is the link to part III in the Mastermind Computer Style-series by Firehouse Sound – featuring some of the obscurest, rarest and of course baddest digital dancehall of the 80s. I seem to remember you enjoying the preceding mixes so I thought I’d let you know about this one too.
thx to all for the kind words. appreciate the support — and hope you enjoy! we’re very happy with how it came out, obviously.
not sure, nina, about a signed copy. (especially since i’d feel really weird about that.) but if you can make it to the NYC book launch party, all three of us editors, and several contributors, will be there.
finally, thx, troels, for the link to the latest mastermind mix. yes, i really enjoyed the first two, and i’ve been liking what i’ve heard so far on the third. nice work!
¡Felicidades, cuate! I see the tome’s currently #10 in Salsa, #29 in Reggae, and #62 in Rap. No Amazon note of what it is in Reggaeton. Maybe this spurs creation of the category.
Thanks, Andrew. I suspect that since our book is, far as I know, the first one devoted to the genre, it’s gonna take a little while. Don’t ask me what’s up with Amazon sales rank, though; a couple days ago, we were #1 in salsa and #3 in rap and #21,000 overall.
BTW, I bought my copy at Book Culture near Columbia University. (112th Street between Broadway & Amsterdam.) There’s still a few copies. Just in case anyone is interested in looking at the book and shit before buying it.
wait, so ‘libro’ is spanish for ‘reggaeton’? or ‘floorboard’?
Mate that is AWESOME. I am mad excited for you. Is this going to be available over here?

Thats why I always use the purest Spanish of them all: Dominican. No mixed meanings there…
Oh, congrats by the way.
It’s lots of babies in a short time ! Congrats !
flog on!!
so how does a girl get SIGNED copies?
felicitaciones! wow. as a current lowly MA student in performance studies, i can’t help but fist pump in solidarity with you.
