Sabina comments mock-angrily that Charlie is a boy’s name (and her little brother’s), thus providing evidence for various (post-structuralist?) theories about gender-neutral names and how names become “devalued” by girls having them. (Apparently a common trend is for a name to start off male-specific, go gender-neutral and then become female-specific as it “loses value”.)

oh man, if i watch that ‘charlie the unicorn’ video again, i’ll never be able to stop saying “charlie” like that.
just for the record — and for birdseed — we named lil charlie after her grandfather. so, yes, it is a boy’s name, though it has been increasingly common for girls too. and we’re more than happy to contribute to the post-structuralist devaluation of gendered names! looking forward to seeing how boyish v. girly our kids (nico = another boy-ish name) turn out!

@kiddid — becca/charlie was two days late as of monday. when i got home from BR at around 1:45, the contractions had begun. just a few hours later, we were done. quite a night!
