Yesterday marked two weeks since Nico came into the world. Two long, tiring, challenging, and absolutely delightful weeks. I’m in love.
Feel no compulsion to post (or prohibition against) a comment that begins with some variation of “Awwwww.” I just wanted to share a few more pics of our dear, dear girl.

You think you’re in love now, wait until she starts to laugh and return the love! My little guy is finally big enough to wrestle a little (almost 1), and we have a pre-bedtime toss-the-baby around routine. He guffaws and chortles to no end and I am literally beside myself. It’s funny because it’s so intimate and at the same time I wish I could gather everyone to see it. At the same time, when she discovers the joy of cabinets, the basement steps, and electrical sockets you may long for those peaceful days of long naps and lots of eating. Have fun and best of luck.

Wish ye many happy days, with a bit of luck the interruptions to sleep will end soon, although if I wasn’t working the next day I used kind of enjoy the 4 in the morning bottle feeds. Well I look back at them fondly now, anyway.

I meant to get in touch when I was visiting Boston over Christmas break, but Travis had mentioned that your wife was due any day and I figured you were probably busy enough. Hi Wayne and Becca! It’s 4:28 in the morning here, I still didn’t go to bed..but I will in a couple of minutes.. Before that I want to give you a small present for Nico.. It’s a tune I made some time ago when my sister gave me a tape of my Nephew’s first little sounds, when he was 1 year and 7 months old and he was learning to speak…

That’s a really sweet gift, Raffa. Thanks. It’s a good bet that one us was also up at 4:28am last night. That seems to be one of Nico’s favorite times of day!
Don’t worry, I plan on recording plenty of sounds. Hope to share some soon. Right now, only some little coos and the occasional cry. I can’t wait for the beginnings of language. I can’t wait to make up words and songs and sounds with this little girl.
And thanks to everyone else for the continued well wishes and empathy. What a wonderful ride!
