“So long, Hengelberth, Maolenin, Kerbert Krishnamerk, Githanjaly, Yornaichel, Nixon and Yurbiladyberth. The prolifically inventive world of Venezuelan baby names may be coming to an end.”

That Venezuelan law never passed. Crazy Venezuelan names will not be tamed! Even crazier than Dominican names, which I never thought possible.
Very interested in the audiophile piece. I’ve been wanting to write about my sonic experiences in the subway. For some reason, even with the screeching subway noises, what bothers me the most these days is people listening to songs on cell phones and the bleed out of earphones. Something about my changing (aging) hearing and which tones/frequencies pierce through ambience.

I predict that Obama will be a very popular name in Venezuela. Glad to hear that the law didn’t pass.
I’d love to hear more — sometime — about your encounters with other people’s mobile music. I’m actually working on an article about it right now, but I hardly even run into that around these parts — guess I need to take the T more often.
