maybe you’ve already solved the “Not Art” puzzle, wayne. here’s my take on it: i’m pretty sure this whole stencil thing is a conceptual marketing attempt by a somerville based band.
my reasoning: last year we were looking for a roommate and some guy checked the apartment out and was looking for a place to rehearse with his band. you know, a bedroom/band practice room kinda thing. we weren’t into it and he didn’t move in. anyhow, i had seen those stencils around and pretty much assumed his group was involved. then i found this http://www.myspace.com/notartcollaborative
sounds like ART to my ears!! also sounds a little like Eno too.
