Been sitting on it and adding to it for too long. So here it is, incomplete as it will have to be, as I seem to discover a new podcast or mix series or audio-show-thing every few days or so. So much music out there, it&#8217;s totally wonderful &#8212; and a little overwhelming. This is an attempt to recommend what have promised to be (and in many cases deliver) regular sources &#8212; indeed, series &#8212; of well-considered musical sequences.  <\/p>\n<p>Not only, I&#8217;m afraid, will this list no doubt be missing some things I actually do DL and dig, the annotations will have to be tantalizingly brief. &#038; I should note that not all of these are subscribable, and they certainly need not be listened to on a &#8220;pod&#8221;; some are updated more than others, some are practically defunct; also, I&#8217;ve loosely grouped &#8212; and in some cases brutally shoehorned &#8212; all the &#8220;casts&#8221; into general categories, and in no particular order. If you see something missing here 4 which I should be checking, do leave a comment. But enough disclaiming &#8212;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Whirl-music<\/strong> (<em>i.e., wide-ranging stylistically and geographically, if usually electronic, natch<\/em>)<\/p>\n<p>>> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.digitalpodcast.com\/detail-blogariddims-14059.html\"><strong>blogariddims<\/strong><\/a> &#8212; readers of this humble blog have been well-intro&#8217;d to this series by now; props to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.weareie.com\/\">droid<\/a> for running a tight ship (<a href=\"http:\/\/feeds.feedburner.com\/blogariddims\/\">subscribe<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>>> <a href=\"http:\/\/masalacism.blogspot.com\/\"><strong>masala<\/strong><\/a> &#8212; global beats via MTL; up to the time, fairly ecumenical, if, <i>oui<\/i>, ghettocentric (<a href=\"http:\/\/feeds.feedburner.com\/massalatogo\">subscribe<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>>> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.spannered.org\/\"><strong>spannered<\/strong><\/a> &#8212; they&#8217;ve only put out one <a href=\"http:\/\/www.spannered.org\/radio\/1138\/\">oddcast<\/a> so far, but they&#8217;ve got nuff <a href=\"http:\/\/www.spannered.org\/radio\/\">amazing mixes<\/a> up over there<\/p>\n<p>>> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.blentwell.com\/blentcast\/blentcast1.html\"><strong>blentcast<\/strong><\/a> &#8212; mr.<a href=\"http:\/\/www.blentwell.com\/\">blentwell<\/a>&#8216;s relatively rare but rarely disappointing cast series remains up for the download, and you can even <a href=\"http:\/\/www.blentwell.com\/podcast.php\">subscribe<\/a> to all that gets posted @ that deep mix emporium if you wanna<\/p>\n<p>>> <a href=\"http:\/\/murk.podomatic.com\/\"><strong>murkcast<\/strong><\/a> &#8212; only two so far, but both strong and interesting, expressing contemporary europe&#8217;s egyptian\/gypsy roots\/routes (<a href=\"http:\/\/murk.podomatic.com\/rss2.xml\">subscribe<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>>> <a href=\"http:\/\/siebethissen.blogspot.com\/\"><strong>dr.auratheft<\/strong><\/a> &#8212; can&#8217;t talk about something like europe&#8217;s global character as expressed in a mix without mentioning the ongoing expositions and interventions of the venerable <a href=\"http:\/\/www.siebethissen.net\/Dr_Auratheft\/Mom_Radio\/index.htm\">siebe thissen<\/a> <\/p>\n<p>>> <a href=\"http:\/\/brazilnetwork.org\/statics\/media\/music\/index.html\"><strong>sambacana<\/strong><\/a> &#8212; in a similar vein, <a href=\"http:\/\/magabo.com\/\">maga bo<\/a>&#8216;s impressive, exhaustive, exciting series manages to do a mighty fine job representing the sprawling, spiraling musical world of brazil, especially, but not exclusively, urban electronic styles; listen and learn &#8212;<\/p>\n<p>>> <a href=\"http:\/\/bombbrooklyn.podbean.com\/\"><strong>bomb brooklyn<\/strong><\/a> &#8212; criss-crossed cut-edge beats, deep&#8217;n&#8217;dirty sorta steez, dubstep to glitch-tech (<a href=\"http:\/\/bombbrooklyn.podbean.com\/feed\/\">subscribe<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>>> <a href=\"http:\/\/gnawledge.com\/podcasts.html\"><strong>gnawledge<\/strong><\/a> &#8212; outernational hip-hop and other out-there excursions and excursions out there, none of which sounds as redundant as that description (<a href=\"http:\/\/gnawledge.com\/podcast.xml\">subscribe<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>>> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mashit.com\/djc\/music.html\"><strong>b-series<\/strong><\/a> &#8212; DJ C&#8217;s electric eclectic mix series (<a href=\"http:\/\/feeds.feedburner.com\/dj-c\/QBun\">subscribe<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Reggae-centric<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>>> <a href=\"http:\/\/algoriddim.podomatic.com\/\"><strong>algoriddim<\/strong><\/a> &#8212; roots-n-culture artist-centric reggae radio shows straight outta chi-town; curatorial in orientation but not too constrained by such concerns (<a href=\"http:\/\/algoriddim.podOmatic.com\/rss2.xml\">subscribe<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>>> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.upsetter.net\/scratch\/sounds\/index.htm\"><strong>radio scratch<\/strong><\/a> &#8212; that&#8217;s right, a podcast (and a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.upsetter.net\/scratch\/main.htm\">website<\/a>) devoted entirely, lovingly, profusely to lee &#8216;scratch&#8217; perry, dub magician\/musician\/technician <s>extraordinaire<\/s> extraterrestrial: deeeep! (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.upsetter.net\/scratch\/sounds\/radioscratch.xml\">subscribe<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>>> <a href=\"http:\/\/baroquedub.co.uk\/audio_mixes.php\"><strong>baroquedub<\/strong><\/a> &#8212; electronic dubwise currents w\/ global sweep; based in NZ, but moving to UK (<a href=\"http:\/\/feeds.feedburner.com\/BaroqueDubPodcasts\">subscribe<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>>> <a href=\"http:\/\/blackmagicplastic.blogspot.com\/\"><strong>blackmagicplastic<\/strong><\/a> &#8212; mostly reggae, some other stuff; check the i&#8217;s blog to get a sense of what shows up on the &#8216;cast (<a href=\"http:\/\/feeds.feedburner.com\/blackmagicplastic\/bmppodcast\">subscribe<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Techno-cratic<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>>> <a href=\"http:\/\/controltochaos.ca\/\"><strong>control to chaos<\/strong><\/a> &#8212; series by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.quadrantcrossing.org\/blog\">t.vanVeen<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.djfishead.com\/\">fishhead<\/a> focusing on &#8220;renegade &#038; liminal genres,&#8221; which usually sounds like techno and ambient to me (with some outliers), which is good (<a href=\"http:\/\/controltochaos.ca\/control_to_chaos.rss\">subscribe<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>>> <a href=\"http:\/\/modyfier-modifying.blogspot.com\/2006_12_01_archive.html\"><strong>process series<\/strong><\/a> &#8212; curated by <a href=\"http:\/\/modyfier-modifying.blogspot.com\/\">rayna modyfier<\/a>, an eclectic, if technocentric, mix series by some reflective DJs, producers, &#038; music bloggers, incl <a href=\"http:\/\/modyfier-modifying.blogspot.com\/2007\/01\/blog-post_24.html\">tomas.p<\/a> &#038; <a href=\"http:\/\/modyfier-modifying.blogspot.com\/2007\/02\/blog-post_07.html\">catchdiesel<\/a><\/p>\n<p>>> <a href=\"http:\/\/nicknice.podomatic.com\/\"><strong>nick nice<\/strong><\/a> &#8212; an (increasingly?) mashdup series, but dude used to drop the bestest house anthems and classic\/deep cuts every satrday night in madison, WI back when i was an outright gradschool dancing fool, so i&#8217;m waiting for re-ups of some old &#8220;butter&#8221; sets, yup (<a href=\"http:\/\/nicknice.podomatic.com\/rss2.xml\">subscribe<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>>> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ravegression.com\/\"><strong>ravegression<\/strong><\/a> &#8212; what the title says pretty much: electrro\/techno\/&#038;other(post)disco dance dance (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ravegression.com\/rss.xml\">subscribe<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>(<em>love to find some good minimal, etc., mixxage if anyone can recommend<\/em>)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Radioshow-style<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>>> <a href=\"http:\/\/toeradio.org\/\"><strong>theory of everything<\/strong><\/a> &#8212; benjamen walker&#8217;s disturbing &#038; disturbingly funny radio show, blurring all kinds of lines and, mebbe just mebbe, helping us all to <a href=\"http:\/\/wayneandwax.com\/?p=39\">tell the truth<\/a> a lil bit better<\/p>\n<p>>> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wnyc.org\/shows\/radiolab\/\"><strong>radiolab<\/strong><\/a> &#8212; quite the entertaining show: meticulously and playfully edited &#038; offering accessible discussions of science and philosophy with eccentric experts; i highly recommend the &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.wnyc.org\/shows\/radiolab\/episodes\/2006\/04\/21\">musical language<\/a>&#8221; episode and anything involving <a href=\"http:\/\/www.oliversacks.com\/about.htm\">oliver sacks<\/a> (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.wnyc.org\/shows\/radiolab\/index.xml\">subscribe<\/a> for season 2; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wnyc.org\/shows\/radiolab\/season1_2005.html\">season 1<\/a> available as streaming audio)<\/p>\n<p>>> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thislife.org\/\"><strong>this american life<\/strong><\/a> &#8212; an obvious choice, but what can i say, i like ira glass, and i think he presents a pretty interesting picture of american life week in and week out (tho it is a little weird how many contributors put on their best &#8220;ira glass voice&#8221; when producing their own segments); plus, it&#8217;s made in chicago, and i like to support the locals, knamean (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.thisamericanlife.org\/podcast.xml\">subscribe<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>(<em>\u00bfalguien conoce a algunas podcasts buenas en espa\u00f1ol?<\/em>)<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Finally, I should maybe mention that I too have a podcast. If you hadn&#8217;t noticed, that&#8217;s because I&#8217;ve only put out <a href=\"http:\/\/wayneandwax.com\/?p=35\">one likkle mix<\/a> so far, the <a href=\"http:\/\/wayneandwax.com\/?page_id=48\">Boston Smashacre<\/a>.
