Later that night (much later — like, 10pm-4am) I’ll be tag-teaming the decks with another dear colleague (and, as it happens, recent New School grad), Chief Boima<\/a>, at Bembe<\/a> in Brooklyn. Extending the family affair, Brooklyn Shanti (who has a new EP<\/a> out on Dutty Artz) will be playing host. Should be hot like toast. <\/p>\n Consider it another mode of file-sharing (esp since Boima uses Serato and I Ableton), but with particular and powerful attributes: realtime, face-to-face, only in that moment and space, quite #rare and #based.<\/p>\n Plus, it’s Boima’s birthday<\/a>, so trust vibes will be nice. We’ll be keeping things rootsy for the most part, a bit more old school than new, but these traditions are very modern traditions<\/a> and the lines get plenty blurred (especially by remixes).
