As I look from the earth to the sky to the ocean,
\nIt’s clear that the doors to the temple stand open,
\nYet I fear that the oracles of truth unbroken,
\nGo too often unheard, as if unspoken.
\nAnd therefore the doors seem instead to be closin’,
\nBut that’s a false notion, keepin’ most people frozen.
\nI’m hopin’ that by explodin’ our mythological obstacles,
\nWe can get going.
\nI’m on a motion mission, wishin’ kids would listen, knowing
\nThat the temple’s merely guarded by a stern condition:
\nNamely, that the whole thing is an intuition.
\nYou can’t get it as a secondhand transmission.
\nI think it’s time we forget all of those lines in our heads,
\nAnd look inside ourselves to find where the divine is instead.
\nWe feel that real spirit must reside in our chests,
\nYet grant divinity to few, while it’s denied to the rest.
\nWhen society just fails to inspire me,
\nI look inside of me to find a free
\nPath to divinity.
\nAnd in the symphony of symmetry the universe can send to me,
\nThe angels rarely sing about virginity.<\/p>\n

So I preach this in the name of Sexy Jesus,
\nJust to counteract the way we’re bound to act
\nLess godly than we prob’ly should go ’round the track.
\nSo, baby, touch my penis, and we’ll pray to Sexy Jesus,
\nAnd make more love on this bed
\nThan any church or temple could attempt to spread.<\/p>\n

If God made Man in his own image,
\nThen God must’ve been a Sexy Motherfucker like me.
\nPlease excuse the rude language, but I’m tryna say this
\nIn a subversive enough way to disrupt your complacence.
\nAnd so I hasten, impatient to awaken
\nA new conception of God, a different way of prayin’.
\nI’ve been struck by the way in
\nWhich Christ is deified, reified as non-human,
\nAsexual image loomin’
\nOver way too many healthy, sex-lovin’ creatures,
\nSo that’s why I try to re-imagine Jesus. I reached this
\nconclusion one day when my lover touched my penis,
\nAnd suddenly, right in front of me, I could see this
\nImage of a man so charismatic that he had it.
\nNo doubt that such a stud could magnetize the eyes of masses.
\nI could see a few apostles makin’ passes,
\nNevermind all those who forgot they’re not to covet neighbors’ asses.<\/p>\n

So I preach this in the name of Sexy Jesus,

I ask this question not simply out of rhetoric.
\nWe suffer under two millennia of moral sediment.
\nIf we equate the sacred with the celibate,
\nHow can we ever build a properly reflective edifice?
\nIf we forget to see the Man in God,
\nWe’ll fail to see the God in Man.
\nSo that’s why I’m on the Sexy Jesus plan.
\nI refuse to lose self-esteem by puttin’ God in someone else,
\nFor spirit is a universal wealth.
\nIt’s all about the way you tell a story, not the facts of it.
\nThe truth is too elusive, words are so often inadequate.
\nA lot of so-called holy folks need to check the arrogance —
\nOn a mission to convert all of the so-called savages.
\nOn the average it’s Christians who need to listen to other narratives.
\nSo many scores of metaphors exist outside of the Vatican’s.
\nStill they push the truth as if some monks could patent it.
\nYou’d think those so fond of fallacies could squeeze Jesus’s phallus in.<\/p>\n

So I preach this in the name of Sexy Jesus,
