A Tale of Two T-Shirts

As sported/spotted in Global Reggae class last week —

AFRICA
random dreadlock t-shirt

Jury’s still out on who that guy with the dreadlocks is. My student assumed it was Bob Marley. Now he knows better.

    I think it’s Everton Blender…

Hmmm. I’d say he’s a contender. Something about the eyes that don’t quite match up for me. But Blender seems a closer match than Mumia anyway. Thanks!

A friend of mine suggested that it could be a young Big Youth (if it isn’t Burning Spear or someone else)

I’ve googled through a bunch of reggae stars and the one I think matches the best is Max Romeo, if it weren’t for the dreadlocks (Romeo’s are much, much thicker).

Or wait, maybe it’s Gregory Isaacs? I think that’s my best match so far. Compare:

Hm, thanks for the continued guesses. Afraid none of these seem quite right to me. I gotta say, the “random” dread hypothesis seems more and more likely — if bizarre — as an explanation.
